DIY Topiary Tree

DIY· Home Decor

8 Apr

In case you are wondering why I’m even interested in Topiary Trees and when we talk about Topiary, we talk about an aesthetic solution that adds length and height to any space or corner you want to decorate.

DIY Topery Tree for Spring decor

Because my idea was to make a Topiary Tree that would fit perfectly for spring/summer decoration, I decided to have it so cute and easy to make, and most importantly to be a fun element for your spring or summer decor.  That made me intrigued to tell you all about this DIY Topiary Tree.

So, let’s start with the supplies.

This is a very affordable DIY Topiary Tree ; you can find most of the items at dollar tree I will link some of them below

DIY TOPIARY TREE SUPPLIES

  • Tin Pail (small bucket)
  • Balloon Sticks.
  • 2 Green Foam Pot Insert.
  • Green Small Ribbon.
  • Garden Green Moss.
  • Colorful eggs or any garden colorful greenery of your choice, you also can use butterflies or a bird.
  • Greenery Bushes
  • Spring Floral Stems
  • Hot glue
  • Toothpicks
  • Wooden stick (BBQ stick)

HOW TO MAKE A TOPIARY TREe

step 1

We will start by gluing the base of the balloon stick to bottom of the bucket from inside so the stick can stand there.

Step 2

I wanted to have a round shape ball topiary, so I glued 2 green foam pot inserts together.

Step 3

Insert the end of the balloon stick to the middle of the green foam pot insert.

Step 4

Wrap the green ribbon around the balloon stick and use the hot glue to secure it in place.

Step 5

Attach a toothpick to the end of one egg using the hot glue and insert it into green foam, you can scatter the eggs around and leave a good space between them.

Using the hot glue, I’ve attached more eggs and some flowers and leaves next to the eggs.

Add more greenery or colorful leaves which I felt a closer bond to while decorating…

You can always play around by adding more greenery, flowers or leaves. I’ve used some pointy grass leaves to give it a dramatic look because it makes total sense!

Step 6

Cover all the remaining empty areas with the green moss using the hot glue.

Glue some of the green moss around the balloon stick, that will rock the tree and make the look complete.

I was facing a problem with the balloon sticks leaning from the weight of the arrangement, so I added some rocks inside the bucket to make it more stable. Anyways, it still looked off to me, so I came up with a great easy fix by inserting a wooden BBQ stick inside the balloon stick! That was a game changer and the whole look was complete.  I didn’t even use the rocks in the bucket. Rocks or not, insert tissue paper inside the bucket and cover the top with green moss. You can add an egg, flower or a butterfly on top of the bucket, that will be a cute add-on

Moment of silence! This topiary tree was very easy and fun to make. You can use it as a centerpiece to any spring/summer decoration or arrangement you have.  It can also be a centerpiece for an outdoor dining table arrangement.

Enjoy your creation!
